McDonnell Shows He Does His Research

In his State of the Commonwealth Speech the other night, Republican Bob McDonnell said:

"Our boards and commissions do great work and are filled by talented individuals. But we have 359 of them and they consume vast support resources and time. This Commonwealth is fully capable of surviving without the Plant Pollination Advisory Board. Call me an optimist if you will, but I believe that plants are fully capable of pollinating themselves without advice from Richmond. "
Harmless Honeybee

He made it seem like the Plant Pollination Advisory Board was completely useless; but it turns out, it serves a huge purpose in Virginia.  The Plant Pollination Advisory Board is crucial to honeybees, and all though honeybees seem pretty useless too, their not, they impact over $135 million in crops which happens to be one of Virginia's largest industries.  The real kicker is the fact that the board only cost the state $150 a year to operate.  That $150 went to buying the members of the board a box lunch.  In my opinion, that $150 for lunch is a small price to pay for the knowledge and expertise this advisory board brings one of Virginia's largest industries.  So next time your going to mock an advisory board Gov. Mickey D, pick one that costs a lot and doesn't do anything.
